Wedding detail shots showcase the colors and aesthetics of the wedding that you've so carefully planned. I photograph a couple's details in a way that matches and showcases the style of the entire wedding day. So, in some ways, the details set the stage for the look of the whole wedding and I love having ample time to stylize the little things that collectively "set the scene" for the day!

Here are a few tips to make sure you get these stunning shots.

What can you expect with wedding detail photos? It depends on your wedding style, but here is a list of details I'll photograph when they're available to me. I recommend bringing all of these that are applicable, plus any other special touches that are important to you. Place all of your details you'd like photographed in a box or bag near your wedding gown. This makes it easy for me to capture every single detail at the start of the day while you're getting ready.

Here are some of the items frequently used in the flatlay:

  • All 3 wedding rings - the bride's engagement ring & wedding band, and the groom's ring
  • Complete invitation suite - save the date, wedding invitation, envelope and any ribbons or other materials the suite was mailed in.
  • Flowers
  • Ring Boxes
  • Bride's wedding shoes
  • Dress & veil
  • Bride's jewelry, groom's cufflinks and tie
  • Personal family heirlooms
  • Perfume
  • Something old, new, borrowed, blue
  • Vow book
  • Guest welcome bag or favors
  • Groom's suit & tie, watch, cufflinks, belt, suspenders, handkerchief, shoes
  • Cologne

Flowers compliment wedding details beautifully and add an element of texture that is just gorgeous. If possible, ask your florist to deliver the flowers to the bridal suite at the beginning of the day. I can then use them to enhance detail shots.

Detail shots are one of the few moments on a wedding day that can be completely staged. When given the proper amount of time and details, I can produce artistic, beautiful images.
